According to a report from Football.London, Arsenal are set to bring in Declan Rice of West Ham United this summer, as they won’t be missing out on him like Mykhailo Mudryk. The Gunners are planning ahead already as Mikel Arteta remains confident he can sign Declan Rice for £75 million.
Rice’s Campaign With West Ham United So Far This Season
Rice is enjoying a decent run of form after producing some influential displays in the central areas. However, he has failed to be productive in the final third after only scoring twice and picking up two assists over 29 appearances for the Hammers this season in various competitions.
Even so, the West Ham Captain deserves a lot of credit for anchoring the holding midfield positions and having a solid presence in the central areas. He has been more than reliable in the middle of the park averaging 2.2 tackles, 1.5 interceptions, 1.4 clearances, 1.0 shots and 1.2 key passes per game in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing possession to his teammates after completing 89.2% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
Is Arsenal The Ideal Place For Declan Rice?
Rice has publicly made it evident that he wants to compete in the UEFA Champions League. Even though he was determined to do that with the Hammers, David Moyes’ side have regressed beyond imagination as they are languishing in the seventeenth place of the league table.
A move to the Emirates Stadium would grant him the opportunity to play at the highest level of Europe, which he aspires to do in the following years as he enters his prime. Chelsea have been showing a keen interest in acquiring him, and they have the money to back it up, but a move to Stamford Bridge wouldn’t be a viable option since they haven’t fared well up until now in the Premier League.
Hence, it is safe to say that signing for the Gunners would be an ideal move for the East London club‘s captain at the end of this season. He would certainly make an immediate impact at the North London club, and we can expect to see him bolster their midfield department next season should the deal happen.
