According to a report from Football.London, West Ham United have made it clear that they will not settle for anything short of their evaluation of Declan Rice in their previous stance. David Moyes believes that if Rice was to be sold at the end of this season then the transfer fee could very well break the current transfer record of £107m paid for Enzo Fernandes as he moved to Chelsea last month.
Rice’s Campaign With West Ham United So Far This Season
The 24-year-old has experienced a campaign of mixed emotions so far at the London Stadium but deserves a lot of credit for putting a tireless shift at the centre of David Moyes’ midfield. Rice has found the back of the net once and earned three assists in 27 matches for the Hammers this season in various competitions.
The English sensation has been a solid presence in the middle of the park after averaging 2.3 tackles, 1.7 interceptions, 1.3 clearances, 1.2 shots and 1.2 key passes per game in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from midfield after completing 89.2% of his attempted passes in the English top flight (stats via whoscored).
Can West Ham United Break The Transfer Record With Rice’s Exit?
The England international has a solid presence, being a tough-tackling midfielder who can sense the danger quickly and stop the opposition attackers in their tracks. He is not afraid to put his foot through the ball when the opposition is looking to threaten his backline and can even make some clever interceptions to earn the ball back for his team. He excels at distributing possession to his teammates and can create some meaningful opportunities in the final third.
Rice is a key player for the Hammers and the East London club won’t be selling him for anything less than humongous money but not many top-tier Premier League clubs could meet such demands. However, the blues have already spent more than £600 million in the past two windows out of which £107m was splashed for Enzo Fernandez on deadline day which has forced the other clubs to reconsider their strategies for the summer transfer market.
David Moyes deems Declan Rice‘s valuation at even more than what was paid for the Argentine World Cup winner. Hence, the Hammers will not settle for anything less than that or could even ask for more to let him exit as they have an option of extending his contract for another year.
