In a recent report, Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that Liverpool are among several clubs hoping to land Juventus ace Adrien Rabiot. It has been mentioned that the Reds are showing interest in recruiting the France international who is on an expiring contract at the Turin club.
Rabiot’s Impressive Numbers For Juventus This Season
Rabiot is having a solid campaign in Italy as he has put in a run of impressive displays at the centre of Juve’s midfield. The Saint-Maurice-born talent has featured in 26 matches for the Turin club this season, netting six goals and earning a couple of assists across all fronts.
The 27-year-old has been a reliable performer at the centre of the park based on his average of 1.9 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 1.3 shots, 1.0 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been excellent when distributing the ball from midfield after making 83.4% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Allianz Stadium is set to run out at the end of this campaign. Thus, Liverpool could potentially land him on a free transfer next summer.
Is Rabiot A Good Option For Liverpool Head Coach Jurgen Klopp?
Rabiot is not shy of making a tackle and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team in the middle of the park. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and can also create some inviting chances for his teammates in the final third.
The French sensation can shoot the ball with venom from long range and is a decent dribbler with the ball as well. He mainly functions as a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as a defensive midfielder or as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so.
We can expect Rabiot to add more bite and steel to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp’s midfield department. He could serve as an ideal replacement for James Milner, who is entering the final stage of his Anfield career.
Rabiot knows what it takes to taste success at the highest level and could help the Reds challenge for multiple trophies in the coming seasons as long as he can make a smooth transition to life in England. All in all, the Juventus midfield ace would be a great option for the Merseyside club to consider when he becomes a free agent at the end of this season.
