High-flying Celtic are firm favourites to clinch the season’s first silverware by defeating bitter rivals Rangers in the Scottish League Cup final. The Old Firm rivals are upbeat before clashing heads at Hampden Park, however, the Hoops have received a massive boost with striking ace Kyogo Furuhashi cooling down transfer speculations despite rumoured interest from Crystal Palace as reported by The Daily Record.
The 28-year-old Japanese hitman completed a £4.5m move to Parkhead in the summer of 2021. Ange Postecoglou endorsed the transfer as he witnessed his mastery in the J1 League donning Vissel Kobe colours. The Aussie boss, then in charge of Yokohama F. Marinos, put his contacts in the Far East to use after taking charge of the Glasgow giants and Furuhashi, too, settled in instantly while succeeding Odsonne Edouard high up the pitch.
The Eagles roped in Edouard a couple of summers ago and they were back again exploring the possibility of snapping up the Celtic centre-forward. But he has now dismissed the rumours in a recent interview.
“I want to be as successful as possible with this club. My focus is only on Celtic to be able to have the most possible success for the club, As a team, we want to win as many titles as possible with Celtic.”
Furuhashi revealed that he does not view himself as a ‘great player’. He is not only working hard to develop his game but also hailed his teammates who helped him overcome the heartbreak following his omission from Japan’s FIFA World Cup squad.
