Manchester City will lock horns with Bristol City at the Ashton Gate Stadium this Tuesday night as they try to secure a victory on the road in the fifth round of the FA Cup. The Mancunian club managed to earn a dominant 4-1 win away at Bournemouth recently which will give them a lot of confidence ahead of this cup game.
Pep Guardiola will probably set his team up in a 4-3-3 formation and could be inclined to name a strong starting XI for this game. Sergio Gomez and Bernardo Silva are expected to play from the start of this FA Cup contest.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Bristol City
Defence
Stefan Ortega will operate in between the sticks for Man City as he looks to earn a clean sheet away from home. Ruben Dias will resume his centre-back partnership with Nathan Ake at the back as they try to keep the home side frustrated throughout the 90 minutes.
Rico Lewis could get the nod to play at right-back while Sergio Gomez earns a chance to impress on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will get the license to get forward and express themselves in the Bristol City half.
Manuel Akanji will get a rest on the bench as he offers cover for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Bernardo Silva, Kalvin Phillips and Ilkay Gundogan will make up Guardiola’s midfield as they try to establish their superiority over the opposition at the centre of the park.
Silva and Gundogan will have to carry most of the creative burden for Man City in the opponent’s half.
Rodri will have to be content with a spot on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if Guardiola opts to call upon his services.
Attack
Phil Foden will function as the left-sided wide player while Riyad Mahrez hoped to weave his magic from the right flank. Both of them need to get in behind the Bristol backline if they want to engineer enough chances for Man City to win this game.
Julian Alvarez will lead the line for Guardiola’s side in the final third. The Argentine talent got his name on the scoresheet in his last outing and would fancy his chances of scoring again in midweek.
Erling Haaland will be available for selection on the bench as he waits for his opportunity to influence the game in the latter stages if the visitors are in need of a goal by then.
