This Premier League season has, so far, been fantastic and we can’t wait for the action to continue. There have been some incredible matches, upsets and brilliant individual performances.
We have just three months left to savour the amazing football and see if Arsenal can finally reclaim the title after many years absent of silverware.
But let’s forget about the race at the top, what about the other teams? One important upcoming game is Brighton vs West Ham on the 5th of March. If you want to make sure of a free bet offer or place a wager on either side, we’ll provide some insight into this matchup, its significance and what you can expect.
Brighton – Current Form
Brighton & Hove are having a pretty good 2022-23 Premier League season and they have proven time and time again that they can keep up with the bigger names and that they are an incredibly dangerous team.
They sit 7th in the EPL table, with 35 points, and are ahead of Liverpool on goal difference. Things are pretty tight in this part of the table though and Brentford are on 35 points too. Additionally, Fulham are only three points ahead, so the rankings are very close.
This makes for some interesting matches and Brighton’s recent form has been decent too. Although they lost to Fulham this weekend just gone, their previous four matches included two wins and two draws. The 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace should have been a win but the 2-1 victory over Liverpool was excellent.
Before their game vs West Ham, Brighton do have an FA Cup 5th round match, which they will want to win. This is against Stoke City, whom they should really beat. They might not even have to field a full-strength team, which will only allow them to perform even better against West Ham.
West Ham – Current Form
West Ham are in dire straits and are in the top relegation spot. They have just 20 points and have only won five matches this season. The bottom of the table is incredibly tight and the Hammers really need every point they can get.
In their last five matches, they have won one, drawn two and lost two. Their recent loss to Spurs did nothing to help their relegation battle and has only plummeted them closer to the bottom.
Southampton sit last with 18 points, then Leeds with 19 points and West Ham just above these two. But things aren’t set in stone and both Bournemouth and Everton are only a point ahead of the Hammers. This is why every point counts and they will be looking to scrape at least a draw from the Brighton game.
The last time these two teams faced off was in August 2022. At the time, Brighton gave West Ham a 2-0 thumping and they looked in control for most of the game. West Ham will be looking to improve on this result and must play better.
Before Brighton, the Hammers have an FA Cup 5th-round game against Man U on the 1st of February and an EPL game against Forest on the 25th of February. Hopefully, the FA Cup game will bring some joy and maybe they can upset United. If so, this could give them renewed confidence to pull themselves out of the relegation zone.
Can West Ham Pull off a Victory and Move Out of the Bottom Three?
If we look purely at EPL standings, current form and previous results, Brighton & Hove should win this one.
They are in decent form and didn’t look to have any trouble against West Ham the last time they played them in August. For Brighton, this is an important game as a win will help them pull closer to the 5th and 6th spots.
For West Ham, virtually every game is critical from this point onward. They sit in the relegation zone and are only two points off the bottom spot. Things aren’t looking good and even salvaging a draw against Brighton could be pivotal in their EPL fight.
Due to the position West Ham are in, there could be an upset, as their lads will understand the severity of the situation.
West Ham Need Every Point They Can Get to Avoid Relegation
Things aren’t looking good for West Ham! They sit in the relegation zone and have had a string of bad results. This means that we can expect them to come out fighting and trying to pull out of the bottom three.
A win against Brighton certainly isn’t unbelievable but they will also be wanting to smash West Ham to take them closer to Europe and to make gains on Newcastle United. Either way, this will certainly be an interesting game and we can’t wait for the action!
