The UEFA Champions League knockout phases have already kicked off with 16 of the best clubs in Europe trying to go all out to get their hands on the Champions League trophy later this year.
To celebrate the return of the famous competition, let’s take a look at five teams with the most UEFA Champions League titles to their name.
Real Madrid (14 Titles)
Real Madrid remain the most successful team in Champions League history as they have won the competition 14 times so far. Los Blancos lifted the trophy for the first time back in 1956 when they defeated Reims 4-3 in the final.
Their most recent success came last summer when the Madrid giants won the final against Liverpool by a 1-0 scoreline.
AC Milan (7 Titles)
AC Milan has lifted the Champions League trophy seven times in their illustrious history. Their last win came back in 2007 when they beat Liverpool in the final by a 2-1 scoreline
Liverpool (6 Titles)
Liverpool have been the champions of Europe six times in their long history. Jurgen Klopp managed to lead them to their most recent European triumph which came back in 2019 when they beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the final.
Bayern Munich (6 Titles)
Bayern Munich have also lifted the Champions League trophy six times thus far. The German outfit’s last success in the competition came in 2020 when they narrowed edged out Paris Saint-Germain in the final by a slim 1-0 margin.
Barcelona (5 Titles)
Barcelona have enjoyed the honour of winning the Champions League six times in their history. Back in 2015, the Catalan club lifted the trophy for the fifth time after they defeated Juventus in the final by a 3-1 scoreline.
With the exception of these five great clubs, Ajax have won the Champions League four times while both Manchester United and Inter Milan have lifted the famous trophy three times each.
