In a recent interview with Soccernews.nl, transfer insider Gianluca Di Marzio urged Real Madrid to move in for West Ham United star Declan Rice. Di Marzio said,
“But I think Manchester United and Arsenal would also be good destinations for him (Rice).
“And maybe we can even add Real Madrid to that list. Carlo Ancelotti is a big fan of his qualities. So you should never forget to mention Real Madrid, for the simple reason that Carlo Ancelotti likes Declan Rice.”
Rice’s Impressive Form In English Football This Season
Rice is having a difficult campaign at the London Stadium but has managed to produce a run of impressive displays at the heart of David Moyes’ midfield. The English sensation has found the back of the net once and secured three assists in 26 matches for the Hammers this season across all competitions.
The 24-year-old has been a consistent performer at the centre of the park based on his average of 2.3 tackles, 1.6 interceptions, 1.3 clearances, 1.3 shots, 1.3 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half after making 89.4% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
Is Rice A Good Choice For Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti?
Rice is a tough-tackling midfielder who can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his side in the middle of the park. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range. The English sensation can engineer a few decent chances for his teammates as well and is quite clever with his movements in the opponent’s half.
At the moment, Rice is playing at a high level despite failing to help West Ham United be consistent in the Premier League. Hence, we can expect him to be a great choice for Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti to consider this year.
We can expect Rice to inject more bite and steel into Los Blancos‘ midfield and could offer some serious competition for the likes of Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the coming seasons. With all things considered, Ancelotti should think about listening to Gianluca Di Marzio by bringing the West Ham star to the Spanish capital this month or at the end of this campaign.
