In a recent report, Defensa Central claimed that Real Madrid have launched a move for Sporting CP star Pedro Porro. It has been mentioned that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the Spain international.
Porro’s Impressive Form At The Estádio José Alvalade
Porro has enjoyed a decent campaign in Portuguese football as he has managed to produce a handful of impressive displays on the right side of Sporting’s midfield. The 23-year-old has found the back of the net twice and earned ten assists in 22 matches for the Portuguese club this season on all fronts.
The Don Benito-born talent has given a good account of himself on the right flank as he is averaging 1.6 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, 0.8 clearances, 2.5 shots, 2.2 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in Liga Portugal. However, he has to find a way to improve his ball distribution from midfield based on his pass completion rate of 74.9% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Portuguese club is set to run out in the summer of 2025. However, he will find it difficult to turn down an offer from a top club like Real Madrid this year.
Is Porro A Good Choice For Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti?
Porro is a good tackler of the ball and can sense the danger quickly to secure the ball back for his team. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and can make some encouraging runs with the ball out on the wide areas.
The Spain international can strike the ball with venom and accuracy from long range and has got the vision to cut open the opposition defence with a killer pass in the final third. He is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also function as a right-back if his manager asks him to do so.
We can expect Porro to bring more quality to Carlo Ancelotti‘s first XI at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. He is good enough to secure a regular starting spot at the Madrid club and could help Los Blancos challenge for multiple top honours in the coming seasons.
At 23, Porro has still got a lot to learn as a footballer. However, an experienced manager like Ancelotti could unlock the best out of him in the Spanish capital in the future. With all things considered, Porro would be a good choice for Los Blancos to pursue this year as long as he can maintain his good form in La Liga football.
