In a recent report, Defensa Central mentioned that Real Madrid will drop their interest in Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. It has been stated that Los Blancos have pulled the plug on their operation to land the Georgian sensation.
Kvaratskhelia’s Brilliant Form At The Stadio Diego Armando Maradona
Kvaratskhelia is having an excellent campaign in Italian football after putting in a series of match-winning displays on the left side of Napoli’s attack. The Tiflis-born talent has found the back of the net on eight occasions and grabbed ten assists in 17 matches for the Naples outfit this season across all competitions.
The 21-year-old has caught the eye in Europe by averaging 4.4 shots, 1.2 key passes and 2.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in the UEFA Champions League. However, he needs to improve his ball distribution deep inside the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 71.3% in European football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Naples club is set to run out in the summer of 2027. Thus, it wouldn’t have been easy for Real Madrid to arrange a move for him on the cheap this month.
Is Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Making The Right Call By Not Recruiting Kvaratskhelia?
Kvaratskhelia excels at creating space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target. He can shoot the ball with venom and accuracy from long range and has got the vision to cut open the opposition defence with a decisive pass on the attacking end of the field. Kvaratskhelia is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also fill in as a right-winger or play in the number ten position if his manager asks him to do so.
The Georgian wide player can even complete some dangerous dribbles on the left flank and has done well to contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals in the final third.
Kvaratskhelia would have added plenty of goals and creativity to Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti‘s attack and would have been a perfect replacement for Eden Hazard who has endured an injury-plagued spell at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
At 21, the future is quite bright for Kvaratskhelia as long as he continues to improve his all-around game with each season. All in all, it seems like Los Blancos has not made the right call by opting to give up on the Georgian talent this early in the January transfer window.
