In a recent report, AS mentioned that Real Madrid could launch a move for Sporting CP ace Pedro Porro if the talented full-back stays at the Portuguese club beyond this January transfer window. It has been stated that Los Blancos are still interested in recruiting the Spanish full-back in the future.
Porro’s Excellent Run Of Form At Sporting This Season
Porro is having a brilliant campaign in Portuguese football as he has produced a series of productive performances on the right side of Sporting’s defence. The Spanish talent has found the back of the net three times and picked up 11 assists in 24 appearances for the Portuguese club this season across various competitions.
The 23-year-old has been a reliable performer for his current club at both ends of the field based on his average of 1.4 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 2.6 shots, 2.4 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in Liga Portugal. However, he needs to take care of the ball at bit better when interchanging possession with his teammates, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 74.9% in the Portuguese first division (stats via whoscored).
His current deal with Sporting is set to expire in the summer of 2025. Thus, Real Madrid would have to make a big offer if they want to recruit him at the end of this campaign.
What Will Porro Add To Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti’s Team?
Porro is a good tackler of the ball and can scan the danger quickly to secure the ball back for his team on the defensive third of the pitch. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when required and can also set up a few inviting chances for his teammates from the right flank. The Spanish full-back can complete some decent dribbles out on the wide areas and can shoot the ball well from long range. He is primarily a right-back but can also function as a right-back if told to do so.
We can expect Porro to add more quality to Carlo Ancelotti‘s defence at Real Madrid. He would be an upgrade over Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez for the right-back spot at the Madrid club.
At 23, the future looks quite promising for the Spanish right-back as long as he continues to improve with each season. Ancelotti has got the experience to unlock the best out of him at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the coming seasons. With all things considered, Los Blancos would be wise to get him on board in the future.
