According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester City can reportedly bring back Pedro Porro of Sporting Lisbon for €20 million as they had inserted a buy-back clause in his transfer agreement. The Portuguese outfit are worried that Man City could buy him back to either utilise him in the match-day squad or sell him for a bigger amount to reap the benefits.
Porro’s Impressive Run Of Form For Sporting Lisbon This Season
Porro is in impeccable form since permanently moving to Sporting as even in this campaign he has managed to produce several influential displays to make his presence felt at the right flank. He has found the back of the net on two occasions and created seven assists over nineteen appearances this season across all fronts.
The Spanish talent has been consistent and reliable while featuring on the right flank after averaging 2.6 shots, 2.4 key passes 1.4 tackles, 0.9 clearances and 1.1 dribbles per game in Liga Portugal. However, he needs to find a way to improve his ball distribution in the final third based on his pass completion rate of 74.9% in first division football (stats via whoscored).
Should Guardiola Bring Him Back To Manchester City?
Porro has produced some dominant displays in the defensive third of the field. He has the ability to time his tackles and can make some clever interceptions to win the ball back for his side. Furthermore, the youngster has proven to be productive on the attacking end as well. He excels at holding on to the ball and making some decent runs down the right flank. He can even set up his teammates by creating meaningful chances using his wide array of crossing abilities.
The Sky Blues could benefit from his services or even decide to sell him with several clubs including Tottenham Hotspur showing keen interest as they are in need of a right-wing back to solve their problem. So Pep Guardiola should definitely consider making a move for the talented full-back sooner than later.
