In a recent report, Calciomercatoweb revealed that Liverpool are showing interest in Juventus winger Federico Chiesa. It has been claimed that the Reds are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Italian wide player.
Chiesa’s Struggles At The Allianz Stadium This Season
The 25-year-old has endured a tough season at the Turin club as he has missed a lot of games due to injuries. Chiesa has found the back of the net once and secured two assists in eight appearances for the Italian club during this campaign across all competitions.
The 40-time Italy international has made most of his appearances off the bench which explains why he is only averaging 0.5 shots, 0.5 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been decent when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 76.3 in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Juventus is set to run out in the summer of 2025. Thus, Liverpool will have to make a sizable offer if they want to bring Chiesa on board this year.
What Will Chiesa Bring To Liverpool?
On his day, Chiesa can be a potent threat in the final third as he has got the dribbling ability to make some eye-catching runs with the ball. He is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also play as a left-winger or in the number position if asked to do so.
The Italian sensation excels at generating space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target and has got the vision to orchestrate some meaningful chances for his teammates in the final third. However, his recent injury record has been poor. Plus, there are some concerns over whether he is good enough to cope with the physical nature and high intensity of regular Premier League football.
Still, we can expect Chiesa to bring some firepower to Jurgen Klopp‘s attack at Anfield. He has what it takes to help the Reds compete across all fronts in the coming seasons. However, at the moment, the Italian wing wizard is not playing his best football, so Klopp will have to find a way to make the most out of him if he decides to move in for him in the not-too-distant future. At 25, Chiesa’s prime years are ahead of him which makes him a good target for the Merseyside club to consider this year.
