Manchester City will take on Wolverhampton Wanderers as they welcome them to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday evening. The Skyblues come into the match on the back of a dominant 4-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in their last outing, so they will be looking to grab another win and close the gap between them and the league leaders Arsenal.
Pep Guardiola will probably return to the 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make a host of changes to the starting XI. Phil Foden will get the nod over Jack Grealish in the final third while Nathan Ake and Rico Lewis drop to the bench to make way for Joao Cancelo and Kyle Walker.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted XI Vs Wolves
Defence
Ederson Moraes will continue to operate in between the sticks looking to secure a clean sheet. Aymeric Laporte will form the customary centre-half partnership with John Stones at the heart of Manchester City’s backline.
Joao Cancelo will play as the left-back, whereas Kyle Walker will operate on the other flank as the right-back. The full-backs will be expected to stretch the opposition and keep their shape defensively.
Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake would have to provide cover from the bench as they wait for an opportunity to feature in the latter half of the game.
Midfield
Rodri remains a guaranteed starter in the holding midfield position; he’ll be tasked with shielding the backline and distributing possession to his teammates proficiently.
Kevin De Bruyne will return to feature in the central midfield position while Ilkay Gundogan keeps his place. The duo would be determined to set up some clear-cut goal-scoring chances in the attacking third while making forward runs into the opposition’s backline.
Bernardo Silva and Kalvin Phillips will take a spot on the bench as they wait for an opportunity to impress in the second half if Guardiola decides to call upon their services.
Attack
Phil Foden and Riyad Mahrez will take up the wide positions, playing on the left and right wing respectively, trying to cut inside and create chances in front of the goal.
Erling Haaland will lead the charge for the Etihad club in this weekend’s encounter. The Norwegian international will continue with his rich run of form trying to find the back of the net and getting his name on the scoresheet.
Julain Alvarez and Jack Grealish will take a spot on the bench as they wait for an opportunity to impress in the latter half.
