Barcelona will face Intercity as they travel to the Jose Rico Perez stadium on Wednesday for this Copa Del Rey round of 32 match up. The Catalan giants will come into the match on the back of a lacklustre 1-1 draw against Espanyol in La Liga, so they will need to produce a better result this time around.
Xavi will probably make use of the 4-3-3 formation and he is expected to make a host of changes, allowing Memphis Depay to lead the line as he replaces Robert Lewandowski in the final third. Marcos Alonso will replace Jordi Alba at the back after the latter picked up a red card in the previous fixture.
4-3-3 Barcelona Predicted XI Vs Intercity
Defence
Inaki Pena will function in between the sticks for the Catalan club as he hopes to earn a clean sheet. Eric Garcia will play alongside Andreas Christensen at the heart of Xavi’s defence as they try to keep things solid at the back during the game.
Hector Bellerin will look to give a good account of himself as the right-back while Marcos Alonso hopes to catch the eye on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them would be eager to join in on the attack and create some inviting chances from the wide areas.
Ronald Araujo will have to settle for a spot on the bench as he offers cover for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Gavi, Franck Kessie and Pedri will make up Barca’s midfield as they try to dominate the game at the centre of the park and orchestrate some good openings on the attacking end of the field. Pedri and Gavi will act as Barcelona’s main playmakers inside the opponent’s half.
Frenkie de Jong and Sergio Busquets will have to be content with a spot on the bench as they wait for their chance to shine in the second half if Xavi decides to call upon their services.
Attack
Ansu Fati is expected to get the nod to operate on the left flank while Raphinha hopes to put his pace to good use on the right wing.
Memphis Depay will get a chance to impress as the focal point of Xavi’s attack. He has to find a way to cause a few problems for the opposition centre-backs in this away encounter.
Robert Lewandowski will be named on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the latter half if needed.
