In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Arsenal are eyeing a move for Barcelona talent Eric Garcia. It has been mentioned that the Gunners are hoping to secure the services of the Spanish centre-back, who could be available for €15m.
Garcia’s Impressive Run Of Form In Spanish Football
Garcia has been a solid defender at the back as he has put in a series of impressive displays at the heart of Barcelona’s backline. The 22-year-old has found the back of the net once and earned one assist in 17 matches for the Catalan club this season across all fronts.
The 22-year-old has been a decent performer when defending inside his half based on his average of 1.3 tackles, 1.0 interceptions and 1.0 clearances per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been excellent when distributing the ball from the back, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 91.4% in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Nou Camp is set to run out in the summer of 2026. Hence, the Gunners will have to make a big offer if they want to recruit the Spain international.
What Will Garcia Bring To Arsenal?
Garcia is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team on the defensive end of the field. He usually clears the danger when the opposition are on the front foot and is also proficient at playing his way out from the back. Garcia is primarily a centre-back but can also fill in as a right-back if his manager asks him to do so.
At the moment, Garcia is playing some of his best football at the Nou Camp. Hence, he will be a good option for Arsenal to consider this month or at the end of this campaign.
We can expect Garcia to bring more bite and steel to Mikel Arteta‘s defence and increase competition for places within the North London club‘s match-day squad.
At 22, Garcia has got a bright future ahead of him and would be a decent long-term signing for the Gunners to pursue this year. He also knows the Premier League well from his time at Manchester City. Thus, Arteta would be wise to try everything in his power to acquire the services of the promising defender as he has what it takes to become a success story at the Emirates Stadium in the coming seasons.
