England will face off against France at the Al Bayt Stadium on Saturday as they hope to earn a positive result in the quarterfinal stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Three Lions managed to earn an impressive 3-0 win over Senegal recently which will give them a lot of confidence ahead of this game.
Gareth Southgate will probably opt for a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to name a strong team for this clash. The Three Lions are expected to be unchanged for this game, so Harry Kane will once again get the nod to lead the charge for England up top.
4-3-3 England Predicted Lineup To Face France
Defence
Jordan Pickford will feature in between the sticks for England after securing a clean sheet in his last World Cup appearance. Harry Maguire will resume his defensive partnership with John Stones at the centre of England’s backline as they try to keep the French attackers quiet during the 90 minutes.
Kyle Walker will fill in at right-back while Luke Shaw hopes to give a good account of himself on the other side as the left-back. Southgate will ask both of them to keep a solid defensive shape at the back and engineer some decent chances from the wide areas.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Eric Dier will be available for selection on the bench as they provide cover for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham and Jordan Henderson will make up Southgate’s midfield as they focus on making life difficult for the opposition at the centre of the park and orchestrate some meaningful goal-scoring opportunities in the final third.
Kalvin Phillips and Mason Mount will have to settle for a place on the bench as they wait for their chance to shine in the second 45 minutes if Southgate decides to call upon their services.
Attack
Phil Foden will hope to catch the eye as the left-sided wide player while Bukayo Saka tries to put his pace to good use from the right. Harry Kane will get another chance to lead the line for the Three Lions on the attacking end of the pitch. The English striker would have to carry most of the goal-scoring workload on his own for England up top.
Callum Wilson and Marcus Rashford will have to be content with a spot on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the latter stages if Southgate’s side are in need of a goal by then.
