According to Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur could reportedly solve their creative problems in the final third by signing James Maddison whose contract at the King Power Stadium is set to expire in 2024. The Leicester City playmaker looks set to make an exit next summer as the Foxes haven’t renewed his contract. However, this gives Spurs the perfect opportunity to bring him aboard at a cut-price deal which can add more quality to their squad.
Maddison’s Impressive Campaign For Leicester City So Far This Season
James Maddison has enjoyed a brilliant campaign for the Foxes as he produced some impressive displays on the attacking end of the field. He has banged in seven goals and created four assists over thirteen appearances this season across all fronts taking his brilliant form from last season into the current campaign.
The 26-year-old has already established himself as one of the best footballers in the Premier League and remains reliable in the final third after averaging 3.0 shots, 2.4 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per game in the English first division this term. He has also been tidy with his ball distribution after completing 84.2% of his attempted passes in the English top flight (stats vai whoscored).
What Could Maddison Bring To Tottenham Hotspur?
Maddison has the ability to make some dangerous runs down the right- flank using his pace and excellent ball control. He is an adept finisher inside the penalty box and can create some meaningful opportunities by setting up his teammates in front of the goal.
The English forward is primarily a right-winger but remains versatile to feature anywhere on the right side of the final third or as an advanced attacking midfielder. Maddison would be someone who could help Harry Kane and Son Heung-min thrive in the attacking third, and registering nine assists in the 2022 campaign makes it evident that he has the vision to create decent chances inside the penalty box.
He remains an attacking threat as wherever he has played, be it for Leicester, Norwich City or Coventry City in the past. He has always been productive in the final third contributing with several goals and assists to his side. Leicester’s number 10 would prove to be a brilliant addition to the Lilywhites, especially, after Dejan Kulusevski’s injury made it prevalent that they lack creativity in the attacking department without the services of the Swedish forward. So Maddison would be a fantastic asset for the North London Club and they should definitely launch a bid for him in the upcoming transfer windows.
