In a recent report, AS mentioned that Real Madrid are eyeing a move for Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies. It has been revealed that Los Blancos are hoping to launch a move for the Canada international in 2024.
Davies’ Impressive Form For Both His Club And Country This Season
Davies has enjoyed a decent run of form in both club and international football as he has performed at a high level on the left flank. The 22-year-old has banged in four goals and grabbed four assists in 24 matches for Bayern Munich and the Canadian national team this season across all fronts.
The talented full-back has given a good account of himself by averaging 1.8 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, 0.7 clearances, 0.6 shots, 1.9 key passes and 1.7 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. He has even been excellent when distributing possession from the back, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 89.1% in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Allianz Arena is set to expire in the summer of 2025. Hence, Real Madrid might have a good shot at recruiting him on the cheap in 2024.
Is Davies A Good Choice For Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti?
Davies is a solid tackler of the ball and can sense the danger quickly to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t hesitate to clear the danger when needed and can set up some meaningful openings for his teammates in the final third.
The Canadian star has got the pace to make some dangerous runs down the left flank and can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals from the left-back position. He is primarily a left-back but can also play as a left wing-back or as a left-winger if asked to do so.
We can expect Davies to enhance the quality of Carlo Ancelotti’s first team and would be an upgrade over Ferland Mendy at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
At 22, Davies has got the potential to become a generational talent which makes him an excellent choice for Los Blancos to consider in 2024. He is good enough to earn a regular spot at the Madrid club and could help Ancelotti’s side compete for some major trophies in the coming seasons.
Thus, Real Madrid should think about engineering a move to bring Davies to the Spanish capital in the summer of 2024 when he will have just a year left to run in his Bayern Munich contract.
