Portugal faced off against Switzerland at the Lusail Iconic Stadium earlier today as they look to earn a positive result in the knockout phases of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Portuguese players made a bright start to the game and got their noses ahead in the 17th minute courtesy of Goncalo Ramos’ excellent finish. Pepe doubled Portugal’s advantage just 16 minutes later as Fernando Santos’ men went into the half-time break 2-0 up on the scoreline.
Ramos scored again in the 51st minute which put the contest to bed. Raphael Guerreiro got his name on the scoresheet as well just four minutes later before Manuel Akanji pulled a goal back for the Swiss. Ramos completed his hattrick in the 67th minute while Rafael Leao came off the bench and found the back of the net in injury time. The contest ended with Portugal earning an impressive 6-1 win in Qatar.

He made a couple of decent saves during the game and won’t be pleased after conceding a goal in the second half.

Pepe cleared the danger when needed and doubled Portugal’s advantage in the 33rd minute.

He did enough work defensively to restrict the Swiss attackers to just one goal.

Guerreiro didn’t do much wrong at the back and produced a bright display in the opponent’s half. He ended the game with a goal and an assist to his name.

He controlled the game well at the centre of the park and got replaced in the 73rd minute.

Carvalho anchored the midfield with conviction but offered very little in the final third.

He earned the ball back once but lacked quality in the Swiss half.

The Manchester United talent created some decent chances for others around him and has got an assist to show for his efforts.

He was a constant menace in the final third and ended the game with a couple of assists to his name.
