In a recent tweet, German transfer pundit Florian Plettenberg stated that Manchester United are keen on signing Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko in the upcoming summer transfer window as Erik ten Hag looks set to add to his options in attack.
‘News #Moukoko: #CFC & other top clubs ready to make the next step as soon as he would decide to leave Dortmund as a free agent in summer. Player won’t accept the current offer as revealed! #MUFC scouted him & monitoring him as well but Chelsea is hotter!’ – the tweet read.
The 18-year-old forward has just six months left on his contract at Signal Iduna Park, so if he doesn’t accept the offer that Dortmund have put on the table, he might leave as a free agent at the end of the season.
One For The Future?
Having come through the ranks at Borussia Dortmund itself, Youssoufa Moukoko made it to the German top flight in 2020, scoring three goals in 14 appearances in his first season with Dortmund. He missed the majority of the 2021/22 season with injuries; however, the youngster has already bagged ten goal contributions across 14 appearances in the 2022/23 season.
He has managed to put up some good numbers on the board this season – averaging 1.9 shots, 0.5 key passes, and 0.8 dribbles per ninety minutes in the Bundesliga. However, having missed a huge chunk of the last season, his injury record remains a point of concern for Erik ten Hag.
Manchester United are in dire need of reinforcements in the striker’s department – and Moukoko fits the bill perfectly. Aged 18, he has plenty of time on his side and is already one of Europe’s most exciting strikers. Hence, the board should go all out for his signature in the upcoming transfer window.
