In a recent report, The Sun stated that Manchester City are determined to land Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham. It has been claimed that Man City are hoping that Pep Guardiola’s presence would be enough to lure the England international to the Etihad Stadium next summer.
Bellingham’s Brilliant Run Of Form For Dortmund This Season
Bellingham is enjoying another stellar campaign at Signal Iduna Park and has performed well at the heart of Dortmund’s midfield. The English sensation deserves a lot of credit for banging in nine goals and grabbing three assists in 22 matches for the German club this season across various competitions.
The 19-year-old has been a reliable performer at both ends of the field based on his average of 3.2 tackles, 1.4 interceptions, 1.1 clearances, 2.1 shots, 1.0 key passes and 2.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga. He has even been excellent when distributing possession from midfield after completing 82.5% of his attempted passes in the German first division (stats via whoscored).
Bellingham’s current deal with Dortmund will expire in the summer of 2025. Thus, Man City will have to launch a big-money move if they are serious about winning the race for his services at the end of this campaign.
Is Bellingham The Right Fit For Manchester City Head Coach Pep Guardiola?
Bellingham is playing at a very high level at the moment and can be a positive influence at both ends of the field. He can get stuck in with some solid tackles to make life difficult for the opposition in the middle of the park. Bellingham mainly functions as a central midfielder but can also play as a wide player if told to do so.
The English sensation doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and can also play his way out from midfield. He has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the final third and is a great dribbler with the ball as well.
Hence, Bellingham would be an excellent fit for Pep Guardiola‘s brand of football at the Etihad Stadium. He is good enough to secure a regular starting spot at the Manchester club and could go on to form a brilliant midfield partnership with Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne over the next few years. All in all, Man City would be wise to engineer a move to bring him on board next summer as he could help them secure even more major silverware in the coming seasons.
