In a recent report, Jeunes Footeux mentioned that Liverpool are set to rival Crystal Palace for Galatasaray full-back Sacha Boey. It has been claimed that the Reds could face competition from the Eagles as well as Olympique Lyonnais in the race to land the French defender.
Boey’s Impressive Rise At The Nef Stadium
Boey has enjoyed a solid campaign in Turkish football as he has managed to put in a few impressive displays on the right side of Galatasaray’s defence. The 22-year-old has been involved in 13 matches for the Turkish club this season, picking up one assist in the process across all fronts.
The talented right-back has given a good account of himself at both ends of the field based on his average of 3.2 tackles, 1.8 interceptions, 1.8 clearances, 0.9 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per game in the Turkish Super Lig. He has even been excellent when distributing the ball from the right flank after completing 82.8% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract with Galatasaray will expire in the summer of 2025. Therefore, it will be difficult for Liverpool to land Boey on the cheap next year as Galatasaray are unlikely to let him go without putting up a fight.
Is Boey A Good Choice For Liverpool Head Coach Jurgen Klopp?
Boey is a good tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to secure possession back for his team. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed but is also proficient at playing his way out from the back. Boey is primarily a right-back but can also fill in as a left-back if his manager asks him to do so.
The French talent can create some decent plays for others around him and is a great dribbler with the ball as well. Hence, he is well-equipped to offer some healthy competition for Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool in the future.
We can expect Boey to undeniably strengthen the overall quality of Jurgen Klopp‘s squad at Anfield. He might even help the Reds challenge for some major honours in the coming seasons.
At 22, Boey still has a lot of room to grow as a footballer, so Klopp might fancy his chances of getting the best out of the player at the Merseyside club. All in all, the Frenchman would be an excellent choice for Liverpool to pursue this January or at the end of this campaign.
