Gyokeres’ Impressive Record In The Championship This Season
Gyokeres has enjoyed a good run of form for Coventry this season as he has banged in a handful of important goals for them in the final third. The 24-year-old has featured in 23 league matches for his current employers this season, netting 12 goals and grabbing one assist in the process across various competitions.
The Swedish sensation has led the line well by averaging 3.0 shots, 1.2 key passes and 1.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in the EFL Championship. However, he has been a bit lackluster with his link-up play in and around the opponent’s penalty box, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 68.6% in the second tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the West Midlands club will run out in the summer of 2024. Therefore, the Toffees might be able to land him on a cut-price fee at the end of this campaign.
Should Everton Boss Frank Lampard Get Him On Board Next Year?
Gykores excels at creating a yard of space for himself to test the oppotion keeper with a strike at goal. He can even set up some promising chances for his teammates to find the back of the net. The Swedish sensation can make some clever runs with the ball as well but needs to improve his link-up play on the offensive end of the field.
At the moment, Gykores is playing at a high level but it remains to be seen whether he can maintain his good form in Premier League football.
We can expect Gykores to inject some much-needed quality into Everton‘s frontline and will give Frank Lampard more options in the final third. He is good enough to offer some serious competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin at Goodison Park in the coming seasons.
With all things considered, the Toffees would be wise to orchestrate a move to get Gykores on board next summer as he could help them stay competitive in English football. The Merseyside club are in dire need of adding more firepower to their attack, so he fits the bill perfectly as he would enhance the overall depth of Lampard’s match-day squad.
