In a recent report, Cronache Salerno stated that Everton are keen on recruiting Villarreal forward Boulaye Dia who is currently playing on loan at Salernitana. It has been mentioned that the Toffees could face competition in the form of West Ham United in the race to land the Senegalese talent.
Dia’s Impressive Run Of Form In Italian Football
The 26-year-old has put in a series of goal-scoring performances as the spearhead of Salernitana’s attack. He is enjoying a decent loan spell in Italy after he found the back of the net six times and grabbed a couple of assists in 14 matches for the Italian club this season in all competitions.
Dia has been a consistent performer in the final third based on his average of 1.1 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per game in the Serie A. He has even distributed the ball relatively well as he has made 77.7% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Italian football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract with his parent club Villarreal is set to run out in the summer of 2026. Hence, it would take a big fee for Everton to stand a chance of securing Dia’s services next year.
What Will Dia Add To Everton Boss Frank Lampard’s Team?
Dia can generate space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He is a good finisher in front of the opposition’s goal and has got the vision to create some inviting chances for his teammates on the attacking third of the field. Dia is primarily a centre-forward but can also function as a right-sided wide player if his manager asks him to do so.
The Senegalese talent can even make some decent runs with the ball up top. Thus, he will be a worthy addition to Everton’s squad this winter as long as he can make a smooth transition to life in Premier League football.
We can expect Dia to add more firepower to Frank Lampard‘s attack at Goodison Park. He could even help the Toffees push for a top half finish in the Premier League next year.
Dia has got the skillset to give Lampard more options in the final third. At 26, the Senegalese talent has his peak years ahead of him and would be a good acquisition for the Merseyside club if they can find a way to bring him on board during the January transfer window.
