In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Barcelona are preparing their final offer for Borussia Dortmund ace Youssoufa Moukoko. It has been claimed that the Catalan giants are ready to launch their final bid to sign the German striker who is currently on an expiring contract at Signal Iduna Park.
Moukoko’s Impressive Record In German Football This Season
Moukoko is having a promising season with Dortmund as he has managed to catch the eye by putting in some impressive displays for them in the final third. The German sensation has participated in 23 matches for the German outfit during this campaign, netting six goals and picking up six assists across all fronts.
The 18-year-old has performed well in the final third by averaging 1.9 shots, 0.5 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. However, he needs to improve his ball distribution in the opponent’s half after completing 71.2% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Moukoko’s current contract at Signal Iduna Park is set to run out next summer. Therefore, Barca have got a good opportunity to sign him on the cheap this winter or on a free transfer at the end of this season.
Should Barcelona Boss Xavi Get Moukoko On Board?
Moukoko is proficient at striking the ball purely and with venom from long range. He can even set up the odd goal-scoring chance for his teammates and is a decent dribbler with the ball as well. The German youngster is primarily a centre-forward but can also function as a secondary striker alongside someone else if his manager asks him to do so.
Someone with Moukoko’s skillset could play a useful role in Xavi’s match-day squad if Barcelona can find a way to get a deal done for him next year.
We can expect Moukoko to add more goals to Barca’s frontline and would serve as an ideal understudy to Robert Lewandowski at the Catalan club.
At 18, Moukoko’s ceiling is quite high, so Xavi should consider trying everything in his power to get him on board during the winter transfer window or when he is available as a free agent at the end of this campaign.
Moukoko is good enough to compete for a regular starting spot at the Nou Camp and could help Barca compete for some major trophies over the next decade. All in all, he will be an excellent, long-term signing for Barcelona to pursue next year.
