In a recent report, Sport revealed that Barcelona have been offered a chance to land Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot. It has been stated that the Catalan club are eyeing a move to sign the French midfield ace on a free transfer next summer.
Rabiot’s Impressive Run Of Form In Italian Football
Rabiot is having a solid campaign in Serie A as he has managed to produce some fruitful displays at the heart of Juve’s midfield. The 27-year-old has scored five times and picked up a couple of assists in 16 matches for the Italian club this season in multiple competitions.
The Saint-Maurice-born talent has been a consistent performer at the centre of the park based on his average of 1.9 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 0.6 clearances, 1.2 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from midfield after making 85.5% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
Rabiot is also having an impressive 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament with France after helping his nation reach the final of the prestigious competition. Hence, Barca will do well to land him on a free transfer when his contract with Juve runs out next summer.
What Will Rabiot Bring To Barcelona?
Rabiot is a good tackler of the ball and can make a few timely interceptions for his team at the centre of the park. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when required and can create some meaningful openings for others around him in the final third.
The French sensation can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range and is a decent dribbler with the ball as well. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as a defensive midfielder if asked to do so.
Rabiot would bring more bite and steel to Barcelona‘s midfield department at the Nou Camp. He will also help the Catalan giants remain competitive in both domestic and European football. Plus, we can expect the Frenchman to serve as an ideal replacement for Sergio Busquets who has been guilty of being inconsistent in La Liga this season.
At 27, Rabiot is enjoying the prime years of his playing career and would make an instant impact at the Catalan club. Therefore, Barca should focus on bringing him to Catalonia on a free transfer when the player’s contract runs out at the end of this season.
