In a recent report, German news outlet Frankfurter Rundschau mentioned that Barcelona are eyeing a move for Eintracht Frankfurt playmaker Daichi Kamada. It has been claimed that the Catalan giants are hoping to recruit the Japan international next year.
Kamada’s Impressive Run Of Form At The Deutsche Bank Park
Kamada is having a decent campaign in German football as he has put in a run of impressive performances for Frankfurt in the final third. The Japanese sensation has found the back of the net on 12 occasions and provided four assists in 22 appearances for the German club this season across all competitions.
The 26-year-old has caught the eye at times on the attacking end of the field by averaging 1.9 tackles, 0.5 interceptions, 0.5 clearances, 1.5 shots, 1.0 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 84.5% in the top tier of German football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract with Frankfurt is set to run out at the end of this campaign. Hence, it makes sense for Barcelona to orchestrate a cut-price move for him this January or sign him for free next summer.
What Will Kamada Add To Barcelona Boss Xavi’s Side?
Kamada can do a little bit of everything while operating in the number ten position. He is a good tackler of the ball and can offer decent protection for his teammates at the back when needed. Kamada is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also fill in as a box-to-box midfielder if required.
The 26-time Japan international excels at creating space for himself to get a few shots in at goal and has got the eye to play a few decisive passes in the final third. He is a decent dribbler with the ball as well and usually takes care of the ball when distributing possession in the opponent’s half.
We can expect Kamada to add more goals and creativity to Xavi‘s frontline at the Nou Camp. He could even increase competition for places within Barca‘s match-day squad.
Therefore, the Catalan giants should prioritize on getting the Japanese talent on board when the transfer reopens in January or recruiting him as a free agent next summer.
At 26, Kamada is about to enter his prime and is well-equipped to make an instant impact at the Catalan club. Thus, he will be a decent signing for Barcelona to focus on next year.
