In a recent report, Calciomercato claimed that Arsenal are set to step up their pursuit of Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic. It has been mentioned that the Gunners are ready to push hard to bring the Serbian striker to North London next year.
Vlahovic’s Campaign Of Mixed Emotions At Juventus
Vlahovic has experienced an up-and-down season at the Allianz Stadium as he has put in some productive displays for Juve despite missing a handful of matches due to injury. The Serbian sensation has banged in seven goals and provided two assists in 15 matches for the Italian club during this campaign across various competitions.
The 22-year-old has been a decent performer in the final third based on his average of 3.1 shots, 1.1 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, he has been a bit sloppy when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 71.3% in the Italian top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current contract is set to run out in the summer of 2026. Hence, Arsenal will have to make a big offer if they want to secure the services of the Serbian striker.
Should Arsenal Head Coach Mikel Arteta Get Vlahovic On Board?
Vlahovic can generate space for himself to get a few shots in at goal. He has got the eye to play some killer passes in the final third and can make some intelligent runs with the ball from midfield. However, the Serbian talent has to find a way to improve his link-up play deep inside the opponent’s half.
A striker of Vlahovic’s quality will no doubt be a great acquisition for Arsenal as he will inject more firepower into Mikel Arteta‘s attack. He is good enough to offer some serious competition for Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah at the North London club.
At 22, Vlahovic has got the potential to become a future star in European football. Plus, he has shown that he can be a consistent goal-scorer at the highest level in recent years. Thus, Arteta should think about getting Vlahovic on board during the January transfer window or next summer as he could help the Gunners challenge for some major trophies in the coming seasons.
However, only time will tell whether Vlahovic can cope with the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football if Arsenal manage to lure him to the Emirates Stadium next year.
