Oxlade-Chamberlain’s Growing Frustrations At Anfield This Season
Oxlade-Chamberlain has endured a frustrating campaign at the Merseyside club as he has struggled to earn regular playing opportunities for them over the past few months. The 29-year-old has only made four appearances for the Reds this season across all fronts.
The former Arsenal talent has featured as a substitute in all three league matches he has been a part of this season. As mentioned earlier, his contract at Anfield is set to run out next summer, so he is running out of time to prove his worth for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
At the moment, Oxlade-Chamberlain is surplus to requirements at Merseyside which is why Liverpool have been reluctant to tie him down to a new deal.
Should Liverpool Head Coach Jurgen Klopp Let Oxlade-Chamberlain Leave Next Summer?
Oxlade-Chamberlain can make some clever runs with the ball when he is playing regularly and with confidence on the field. He can even strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range. Furthermore, the English sensation has got the experience and guile to create some decent chances for his teammates to score.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is primarily a central midfielder but can also fill in as a winger on either flank if his manager asks him to do so. However, he has been far too injury-prone and inconsistent during his time at Liverpool.
Thus, it is only logical and fair for the Merseyside club to let Oxlade-Chamberlain leave at the end of this season. He is not reliable enough to offer cover for Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson at Anfield.
Furthermore, Oxlade-Chamberlain is unlikely to get any real playing time if he decides to stay with the Reds beyond next summer. At 29, the English talent needs a change of scenery soon if he wants to get his career back on track.
All in all, Liverpool would be wise to cash in on Oxlade-Chamberlain this January and use the money generated from his potential sale to bring in a suitable replacement. Otherwise, they should keep hold of him until next summer before losing him as a free agent.
