Germany will face off against Japan at the Khalifa International Stadium this Wednesday as they try to secure a good result and make a strong start to their 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign. The Germans managed to earn a 1-0 win over Oman recently which will give them some confidence ahead of this game.
Hansi Flick will probably opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and could name a strong first XI for this clash versus Japan. We can expect to see Thomas Muller lead the line for the German national team in the midweek World Cup contest.
4-2-3-1 Germany Predicted Lineup To Face Japan
Defence
Manuel Neuer will feature in goal for Germany as he focuses on securing a clean sheet at the back. Niklas Sule will resume his defensive partnership with Antonio Rudiger as they try to keep things solid on the defensive end of the field during the 90 minutes.
Thilo Kehrer will get the nod to impress as the right-back while David Raum hopes to give a good account of himself as the left-back. Both of them will get the license to express themselves in Japan’s half and create some decent chances in the final third.
Armel Bella-Kotchap will have to settle for a spot on the bench as he offers cover for the centre-back positions.
Midfield
Ilkay Gundogan and Joshua Kimmich will anchor the midfield for Flick’s side as they try to establish their superiority over the opposition at the centre of the park. They will also be responsible for engineering some clear-cut opportunities in the final third.
The gifted trio of Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala and Serge Gnabry will function just ahead of them as part of Germany’s attack. Both Sane and Gnabry have to find a way to stretch the Japan backline at every chance they get.
Kai Havertz and Leon Goretzka will have to be content with a spot on the bench as they wait for their opportunity to impress in the second half if required.
Attack
Thomas Muller will spearhead Germany’s attack on the attacking third of the pitch. He has got a terrific goal-scoring record in World Cup football, so we can expect him to be eager to produce a decent display in midweek.
Youssoufa Moukoko will be named on the bench as he waits for his chance to make an impact in the latter stages of the game if Germany are in need of a goal.
