Argentina will take on Poland at the Lusail Iconic Stadium on Wednesday as they go all out to grab a win needed to qualify for the knockout rounds of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Argentina national team bounced back after their 35 matches winning streak ended against Saudi Arabia in their opening match as they recorded a splendid 2-0 victory over Mexico in the second fixture. It boils down to the last match of the group stages as they face Poland, looking to grab a win and book their place in the knockout rounds of the competition.
Lionel Scaloni could opt for a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to name Lionel Messi, Lautaro Martinez and Angel Di Maria as the front three to go against the Polish defence.
4-3-3 Argentina Predicted XI Vs Poland
Emiliano Martinez will feature in goal for his side after securing a clean sheet versus Mexico recently. Lisandro Martinez could function alongside Nicolas Otamendi at the heart of Argentina’s backline as they try to stop the opposition, especially Robert Lewandowski who will lead the line for Poland who sit at the top of the table.
Nahuel Molina will fill in as the right-back while Nicolas Tagliafico hopes to give a good account of himself as the right-back. Both of them will get the freedom to get forward and join in on the attack at every chance they get but will need to keep their shape defensively.
Cristian Romero will have to be content with a spot on the bench as he offers cover for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Leandro Paredes, Rodrigo De Paul and Enzo Fernandes will anchor the midfield for Argentina as they try to dominate the ball at the centre of the park and engineer enough clear-cut chances to win this deciding match on Wednesday. The former will also be shielding the back four as he plays in a more defensive position.
Guido Rodriguez and Alexis Mac Allister will have to be patient on the bench as they might come on in the second half to make an impact.
Attack
Angel Di Maria will try to catch the eye as the left-winger while Lionel Messi hopes to put in a productive performance from the right. All eyes will be on the Argentinian captain who will have to produce his magic in the attacking third to lead his team into the knockouts.
Lautaro Martinez will lead the line down the middle as he fancies his chances of finding the back of the net and getting his name on the scoresheet.
Julian Alvarez will be available for selection on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the latter stages if needed.
