In a recent report from Manchester Evening News, it was mentioned that Manchester United target Benjamin Pavard is open to signing a deal with the Red Devils, however, Bayern Munich are reluctant to sell him in the January transfer window.
Pavard’s Campaign With Bayern Munch This Season
Pavard is having a decent campaign at the Allianz Arena after he produced a handful of solid displays on the right side of Bayern’s backline. The 26-year-old has scored three goals in 19 appearances for the German outfit this season across various competitions.
The French talent has been a consistent performer down the right flank as he is averaging 2.5 tackles, 1.5 interceptions, 2.2 clearances, 1.1 shots and 0.9 key passes per game in the Bundesliga. He has even been exceptional when distributing possession to his teammates, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 89.1% in the German first division (stats via whoscored).
Should Ten Hag Make A Lucrative Offer To Bring Him To Manchester United?
Pavard is a technically gifted footballer who is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the vision to play some decisive passes in the final third. He can contribute by scoring his fair share of goals up top. The France international usually operates as a right-back but can also fill in as the right centre-back or play as a right-sided wide player in the midfield if his manager asks him to do so.
Someone of Pavard’s skillset and quality will no doubt bring more bite and steel to Ten Hag’s defence. He can also add more quality to the attacking department, so Pavard’s addition to the squad would be a brilliant decision.
Therefore, Erik Ten Hag should consider going all out to secure Pavard’s services during the January transfer window but it might cost them much more than what they could possibly splash out. At 26, his best years are ahead of him which makes him a decent long-term option for United to pursue this winter.
