In a recent report from Manchester Evening News, it was mentioned that Manchester United are plotting a sensational attempt at signing Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit from Old Trafford. Erik Ten Hag needs an out-and-out striker in the attacking department and they’ve identified Kane as a long-term option.
Kane’s Recent Run Of Form For Tottenham Hotspur
Kane has had a brilliant start to this campaign after putting in a few impressive displays as the focal point of Tottenham’s attack. He has banged in thirteen goals and created three assists over twenty-one matches for the Lilywhites so far across multiple competitions.
The Walthamstow-born talent has been reliable and consistent in the attacking front as he is averaging 3.9 shots, 0.9 dribbles and 1.9 key passes per game in the Premier League. However, he has to find a way to improve his ball distribution based on his pass success rate of 73.1% in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
Should Ten Hag Bring Him To Manchester United?
Kane is definitely one of the best strikers in Europe; as he remains a deadly finisher inside the penalty box while he also has a knack for taking shots from a long range. The English international is a goal threat and can position himself in the right places to invite a few decent opportunities.
The 1.88 meters tall forward can easily dominate his opponents in the air and with a strong frame, he can hold off the defenders to get a few strikes in on the target. The 29-year-old attacker can also make a few decisive passes to set up his teammates in front of the goal. He is in his prime and in great form recently, so a move away from North London could mean better chances at earning more silverware. However, the Red Devils are nowhere near the other Premier League giants and one could argue staying at Tottenham would be better than moving to Old Trafford now.
If he does not pen down a contract extension sooner than later then United would very likely be in a pole position to acquire his signature. It would all boil down to the next summer transfer window when the England captain’s contract comes to an end.
