Garcia’s Decent Run Of Form In Spanish Football This Season
The 25-year-old has managed to put in a few impressive displays at the centre of Girona’s midfield. Garcia has registered three assists in 15 appearances for the Spanish club this season across multiple competitions.
The Spaniard has given a good account of himself at both ends of the field based on his average of 1.4 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, 0.7 clearances, 1.4 shots, 2.5 key passes, 3.0 crosses and 0.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even taken care of the ball really well when linking up play with others around him in the final third, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 89.7% in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).
The Ulldecona-born sensation is under contract at Girona until the end of this campaign. Hence, Barca might have a good shot at landing him on a cut-price fee during the January transfer window.
What Will Garcia Add To Barcelona Boss Xavi’s Team?
Garcia is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team at the centre of the park. He doesn’t hesitate to put his foot through the ball when needed and is an excellent crosser as well from the flanks. Garcia mainly operates as a box-to-box midfielder but can also play as a defensive midfielder or an attacking midfielder if his manager tells him to do so.
The Spanish sensation can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range and can even make a few impressive runs from midfield.
Garcia has successfully established himself as one of the better players in his position in La Liga. Hence, he won’t take much time settling into life at the Nou Camp if Barca can find a way to get him on board this winter.
We can expect Garcia to add more energy and dynamism to Xavi‘s midfield department. He could even help the Catalan club compete for some major trophies once again in the coming seasons. Thus, it makes a lot of sense for Barcelona to orchestrate a move to secure the services of the Spanish midfield ace this January.
