Tottenham Hotspur will face Nottingham Forest at City Ground this Thursday as they look to book their place in the fourth round of the EFL Cup. The Lilywhites will come into the match on the back of a 2-1 defeat against Liverpool last weekend, so they will be hungry to return to winning ways in this Carabao Cup encounter.
Antonio Conte could opt for the 3-5-2 formation and will make a few changes to his starting XI for this game. Dejan Kulusevski will get the chance to start alongside Harry Kane in a two-man strike team in the final third.
3-5-2 Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup To Face Liverpool
Defence
Hugo Lloris will feature in between the sticks for Spurs after he conceded two goals in his last outing. Conte might opt for a back three of Eric Dier, Clement Lenglet and Davinson Sanchez as they look to keep things solid at the back throughout the game.
Cristian Romero remains doubtful due to a thigh problem for this game although he could take a spot on the bench as he offers cover for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur will function as the holding midfielders as they focus on dominating the ball at the centre of the park and efficiently distributing possession to their teammates.
Ivan Perisic will fill in as the left-sided wide player while Ryan Sessegnon hopes to catch the eye on the other flank. Both of them would be given the task to provide support from the wide areas and keep their shape defensively.
Oliver Skipp, Pape Matar Sarr and Matt Doherty will be named on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the second half if Conte opts to call upon their services.
Attack
As mentioned earlier, Harry Kane and Dejan Kulusevski will probably lead the line for the North London giants up front. Kane will be Spurs’ best hope for a goal in this midweek encounter while Kulusevski gets creative and causes problems for the opposition.
Richarlison (calf) and Heung-min Son (eye) will remain sidelined because of their injuries. Hence, Conte will be short on attacking options until they recover.
