Aston Villa will face Manchester United again at Old Trafford this Thursday as they look to produce a similar result and book their place in the fourth round of the EFL cup. The Villans recorded an impressive 3-1 victory over the Red Devils in the Premier League encounter last weekend, so they will be hoping to grab another win over them.
Unai Emery will probably set his side up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make a few tweaks to the playing XI. Boubacar Kamara will get the chance to start in the holding midfield position while Danny Ings returns to the final third.
4-2-3-1 Aston Villa Predicted XI Vs Manchester United
Defence
Emiliano Martinez will operate in goal for his side hoping to keep a clean sheet this time around compared to his last outing. Tyrone Mings will function alongside Ezri Konsa at the heart of Villa’s backline as they try to keep the Man United attackers at bay throughout the game.
Matty Cash will probably fill in at right-back while Lucas Digne keeps his place on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will get forward and join in on the attack while keeping a solid defensive shape at the back to stop the opposition from creating too many chances from the wide areas.
Midfield
Douglas Luiz and Boubacar Kamara will anchor the midfield for Unai Emery’s side as they focus on dominating the opposition at the centre of the park.
The talented trio of Leon Bailey, Emi Buendia and Jacob Ramsey will operate just ahead of them as part of the Villans’ attack. Both Buendia and Bailey will have to find a way to create some decent chances in front of the goal.
John Mcginn will have to settle for a spot on the bench as he waits for his chance to impress in the second half if needed.
Attack
Danny Ings will lead the charge for the Villans as he will fancy his chances of finding the back of the net against the Red Devils.
Ollie Watkins will have to be content with a place on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the final quarter if the West Midlands club are in need of a goal by then.
