In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, journalist Pete O’Rourke revealed that Liverpool would love to land Borussia Dortmund ace Jude Bellingham during this January transfer window. O’Rourke said,
“I’m sure Liverpool would love the opportunity to sign him in January.
“But, unfortunately for Liverpool and any other interested clubs, if he keeps playing like he is at the World Cup, it’s only going to increase his price tag.
“I’m sure Borussia Dortmund will not be looking to entertain any offers for Bellingham in the January transfer window.”
Bellingham’s Impressive Numbers At Signal Iduna Park
Bellingham has experienced a productive campaign in German football as he has produced a run of consistent performances at the centre of Dortmund’s midfield. He is currently making his nation proud in the 2022 FIFA World Cup which is taking place in Qatar.
The 19-year-old has banged in ten goals and grabbed four assists in 29 matches for both his club and country this season across all competitions. Bellingham has proved his reliability in central midfield by averaging 3.2 tackles, 1.4 interceptions, 1.1 clearances, 2.1 shots, 1.0 key passes and 2.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga. He has even been tidy with his ball distribution after making 82.5% of his attempted passes in the top tier of German football (stats via whoscored).
Should Liverpool Boss Jurgen Klopp Make A Move For Bellingham?
Bellingham is a tough-tackling midfielder who can make some important interceptions for his side at the centre of the park. He doesn’t shy away from clearing the danger when the opposition are on the front foot and can also play his way out from midfield.
The England international packs a lot of power and precision with his shots from long range and has even got the vision to engineer some clear-cut chances for his teammates to score. He is usually quite clever with his movements in and around the opponent’s penalty box.
Hence, Bellingham would be a dream acquisition for Liverpool as he will solve most of the midfield problems that they have encountered this season. The English talent could mature into a world-class midfielder under the stewardship of Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
Bellingham has got what it takes to help the Merseyside club challenge for multiple trophies over the next decade. Plus, he will be a perfect long-term successor to the likes of Thiago Alcantara, James Milner and Jordan Henderson as they have all entered the final stages of their respective playing careers.
