In a recent segment on Youtube, journalist Jorge Nicola mentioned that Chelsea are the favorites to sign Palmeiras forward Endrick. Nicola said,
“Feeling, okay? Talking to people here and there, I have the impression that Chelsea are the favourites to get the athlete. Maybe not for the financial issue, but for the whole package. Chelsea, since the first day that Endrick turned 16 years old, have been doing a series of projects trying to include Endrick in a big package. The idea is to make him the face of Chelsea from the moment he can move to Europe, when he turns 18.”
Endrick’s Impressive Run Of Form For Palmeiras
Endrick is having another impressive campaign in Brazil as he has managed to put in several goal-scoring displays as the focal point of Palmeiras’ attack. The 16-year-old has scored nine goals and secured one assist in 14 matches for the Brazilian outfit this season across multiple competitions.
The gifted teenager has been a reliable performer in the final third based on his average of 2.0 shots, 0.7 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Brasileirao. However, he has been a bit untidy with his ball distribution after completing 73.3% of his attempted passes in the Brazilian top tier (stats via whoscored).
Should Chelsea Boss Graham Potter Snap Endrick Up Soon?
Endrick is a technically gifted footballer who can generate space for himself to get a few strikes in on-target. He can shoot the ball with power and accuracy from long range and has got the vision to create some meaningful openings for others around him in the final third. The Brasilia-born talent can even make a few clever runs with the ball in behind the opponent’s backline.
At 16, Endrick has already established himself as a top performer in Brazilian football. Therefore, he would be a massive signing for the Blues if Chelsea boss Graham Potter can somehow devise a way to recruit him next year.
Endrick is already good enough to serve as a decent squad player at Stamford Bridge. Both Armando Broja and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have flattered to deceive with their performances this season. Hence, it makes a lot of sense for the West London club to snap the Brazilian whizkid up this January or next summer as he will be a great option for them in the long run. Furthermore, Endrick will have a good resale value in the future even if things do not work out for him in English football.
