In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Aston Villa could move in for Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze. However, it has been stated that the Villans could face competition in the form of Everton, West Ham United and Arsenal in pursuit of the Nigerian wide player.
Chukwueze’s Good Run Of Form At The Estadio de la Cerámica
The 23-year-old has enjoyed a decent campaign with the Yellow Submarine as he has put in a series of fruitful performances for them in the final third. Chukwueze has banged in three goals and grabbed four assists in 19 matches for his current employers this season across various competitions.
The Nigeria international has been a reliable performer in the opposition half based on his average of 1.1 shots, 0.8 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. However, he needs to work on improving his ball distribution after making just 74.3% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
Chukwueze is under contract at the Estadio de la Cerámica until the summer of 2024. Therefore, the Villans might have a good chance to recruit him at a cut-price fee at the end of this campaign.
What Will Chukwueze Bring To Aston Villa?
Chukwueze can use his pace to make a few decent runs with the ball in behind the opponent’s backline. He can be a hard man to dispossess when he is running in full swing toward the opposition penalty box. Chukwueze usually plays as a right-sided wide player but can also function as a right-winger or play as a striker down the middle if needed.
The Nigerian talent can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range and can even set up some inviting chances for others around him on the attacking third of the field.
At 23, Chukwueze is a player on the rise and has what it takes to help the Villans push for a top-half finish in the Premier League. He will undoubtedly bring more pace and goals to Unai Emery‘s attack having previously played under the new Aston Villa manager at Villarreal. Furthermore, he would give Emery more options in the final third.
However, it remains to be seen whether Chukwueze can maintain his good form in the Premier League if the West Midlands club successfully manage to lure him to Villa Park this January or next summer. Still, there is no denying that he will be an exciting acquisition for Aston Villa to pull off in 2023.
