In a recent report, The Chronicle mentioned that Real Madrid have retained their interest in Newcastle United midfield ace Bruno Guimaraes. However, it is believed that Los Blancos would have to pay more than £103m to land the Brazilian sensation next year.
Guimaraes’ Impressive Form In English Football This Season
Guimaraes is having a solid campaign at St. James’ Park after he produced a run of consistent displays at the centre of Eddie Howe’s midfield. The eight-time Brazil international has found the back of the net twice and grabbed one assist in eight matches for the Magpies this season across all competitions.
The 24-year-old has been an influential presence at both ends of the field as he is averaging 3.1 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 0.7 clearances, 0.6 shots, 1.7 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He has even taken care of the ball well when distributing it from midfield, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 86.1% in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at St. James’ Park is set to run out in the summer of 2026. Therefore, Real Madrid will struggle to sign him on the cheap next year.
Is Bruno Guimaraes A Decent Option For Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti?
Guimaraes is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team in the middle of the park. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when his teammates are in danger at the back.
The Brazilian sensation can even strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range. Plus, he has got the eye to play a decisive pass on the attacking end of the field.
Thus, a midfield of Guimaraes’ skillset would be a terrific acquisition for Los Blancos next summer. He has what it takes to help Real Madrid challenge for some top honours over the next few years and would be a good signing for them in the long run.
At the moment, Carlo Ancelotti needs to find a suitable replacement for Toni Kroos, who is in the last legs of his playing career at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Guimaraes fits the bill perfectly as he ticks all the right boxes in terms of what Ancelotti demands from his central midfielders. At 24, the Brazilian will only get better with each season which makes him a great option for Los Blancos to pursue at the end of this campaign.
