Everton will face off against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Wednesday night as they look to secure a positive result on their travels. The Toffees suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur recently, so they will be eager to put on a much-improved showing in midweek.
The Merseyside outfit will set his team up in a 4-3-3 formation and are expected to lineup with a strong team for this game. Hence, Neal Maupay will lead the charge for the Toffees on the attacking end of the field.
4-3-3 Everton Predicted Lineup To Face Newcastle United
Defence
Jordan Pickford will resume his duties in goal for the Toffees after he shipped in a couple of goals versus Spurs in his last outing. Conor Coady will resume his defensive partnership with James Tarkowski at the heart of Everton’s defence as they try to stop the Magpies from scoring this week.
Seamus Coleman will fill in at right-back while Vitaliy Mykolenko could get a chance to catch the eye as the left-back. Both of them will be instructed to keep a solid defensive shape at the back so that they can contain Newcastle from creating too many chances from the wide areas.
Michal Keane will provide cover for the defensive spots on Everton’s bench this week. However, Ben Godfrey will remain sidelined for this Premier League fixture at St. James’ Park.
Midfield
Alex Iwobi, Idrissa Gueye and Amadou Onana will function as the holding midfielders as they try to make life tough for the opposition in the middle of the park. All three of them will also have to find a way to distribute the ball well and engineer some clear-cut chances in the opponent’s half.
Abdoulaye Doucoure will have to settle for a spot on the bench as he waits for his opportunity to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if required.
Attack
Demarai Gray will get the nod to operate as the left-sided wide player while Dwight McNeil hopes to catch the eye from the right. Neal Maupay will once again get a chance to lead the charge for the Toffees in the final third. He will be Everton’s best hope for a goal by then.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin will have to be content with a place on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the second half if Everton are in need of a goal by then.
