In a recent interview, Hirving Lozano’s agent Alessandro Monfrecola told Gonfia la Rete (as per Sports Witness) that Manchester United are in the mix to sign the Napoli winger as Erik Ten Hag looks set to add to his attacking options.
The Mexican forward is frustrated after losing his starting spot in Naples and is looking to switch clubs in January.
“Next June, Lozano will leave in my opinion, also because he earns over four million at Napoli. Although he is delighted to be here, he has never hidden that he aspired to the top English clubs, although now he is probably realising that Napoli itself is a top club.” – Monfrecola said.
“He has never hidden that he loves Barcelona and Real Madrid, but unless [Carlo] Ancelotti falls in love with him again, he has no market. I think he could land in Manchester United or Everton. This does not exclude that other English teams could enter the negotiation. My personal prediction is that he will leave in June, but he is very happy here.”
Hirving Lozano’s contract at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium runs until July 2024.
Good Option For Ten Hag?
Having come through the ranks at Mexican club Pachuca, Lozano signed for SSC Napoli from PSC Eindhoven in August 2019 for a fee in the region of 40 million Euros. Over the course of the last four years, the 59-times Mexico international has recorded 123 appearances for Gli Azzurri, scoring twenty-six goals and assisting fourteen more across all competitions.
Despite being starved of regular game time this season, the 27-year-old has managed to put up some impressive numbers on the board – averaging 2.1 shots, 1.1 key passes, 1.1 dribbles, and 0.9 crosses per ninety minutes in the Italian top-flight (calculated over 347 minutes).
Manchester United are in dire need of reinforcements in the attacking department – and Hirving Lozano fits the bill perfectly. Aged 27, he has plenty of experience under his belt and Erik ten Hag is already familiar with him from their time in the Eredivisie together. Hence, the board should go all out for his signature in the upcoming transfer window.
