Liverpool entertained Leeds United at Anfield earlier tonight as they looked to earn a good result at home and bounce back in a positive fashion in the Premier League. The Reds made a nightmare start to the game as they conceded the opening goal in the fourth minute when Rodrigo was gifted an easy goal by Joe Gomez. Mohamed Salah equalised for the Merseyside club just ten minutes later with a good finish. The home team grew in confidence but were held to a scoreless draw at half-time.
Crysencio Summerville ended up scoring a late winner as the Reds crashed to a poor 2-1 defeat in front of the Kop.
Let’s take a look at how each Liverpool player performed during the match against the Whites.
GK: Alisson Becker – 6.5/10
The Brazilian was tidy with his ball distribution but would be disappointed for not stopping Summerville’s match-winner.
RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold – 6.5/10
The English right-back looked low on confidence but played some neat passes during the game. He created some inviting chances in the final third.
CB: Joe Gomez – 4/10
The English defended handed Leeds the opener with a horror pass to his keeper. He was defensively vulnerable throughout the game.
CB: Virgil Van Dijk – 5/10
Van Dijk was far from dominant and was always too slow to react to the danger. He played it safe with his passes and produced a lackluster display defensively.
LB: Andrew Robertson – 8/10
The Scottish left-back was full of energy and running down the left flank and produced a wonderful attacking display. He picked up an assist for setting up Salah’s equaliser.
CM: Fabinho – 6.5/10
He struggled to get a foothold in the game but did some of the defensive dirty work.
CM: Harvey Elliott – 6/10
Elliott lacked quality on the ball and failed to get into the flow of the game.
CM: Thiago Alcantara – 8/10
The Spaniard ran the show at times in the Leeds half and produced another masterclass of a performance at the centre of the park.
CAM: Roberto Firmino – 7/10
The Brazilian forward had a sublime first half but an average second half. He set up some wonderful openings for his teammates but failed to take any of his chances.
ST: Momaed Salah – 7.5/10
The Egpyt international produced some moments of pure magic and scored Liverpool’s equaliser with a controlled finish.
ST: Darwin Nunez – 6.5/10
He was a constant menace in the final third but wasted some glorious opportunities to score.
Substitutes:
CM: Curtis Jones – 7/10
Jones made a positive impact but was too selfish at times.
CM: Jordan Henderson – 6/10
The Liverpool captain failed to provide any real protection for his teammates at the back.
CM: James Milner – 6/10
Milner came on to offer help down the right flank but failed to do so.
