Atletico Madrid will face Club Brugge again as they welcome them to Wanda Metropolitano this Wednesday night. The Spanish outfit will be looking to get revenge as they were defeated by a scoreline of 2-0 against the visitors in the reverse fixture last week. The Belgian giants sit at the top of Group B in the UEFA Champions League and a win would guarantee their place in the Knockout rounds.
Diego Simeone could set the team up in a 5-3-2 formation and is expected to make a few changes to his starting XI for this game. Antoine Greizmann and Angel Correa will feature as a two-man strike team up top while Joao Felix takes a spot on the bench.
5-3-2 Atletico Madrid Predicted Line Up Vs Club Brugge
Defence
Jan Oblak will operate in goal for his side after he failed to earn a clean sheet in his last outing conceding a goal against Girona. Simeone could opt for a back three of Stefan Savic, Jose Gimenez and Reinildo Mandava for this game as they try to keep the opposition at bay throughout the game.
Yannick Carrasco could keep his place as the left wing-back while Nahuel Molina hopes to catch the eye as the right wing-back. Both of them will have to defend the opposition wingers well inside their half and make some overlapping runs on the counter to stretch the opponents’ backline.
Mario Hermoso and Geoffrey Kondogbia will have to settle for a place on the bench as they offer cover for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Koke, Axel Witsel and Thomas Lemar will anchor the midfield for the Madrid giants as they try to put a solid performance collectively in stopping the opposition at the centre of the park. They will be tasked with distributing possession efficiently and creating some decent opportunities for the front two.
Rodrigo De Paul will be available for selection on Simeone’s bench but might come on to influence the game in the latter stages if required.
Attack
As mentioned earlier, Antoine Greizmann will lead the charge alongside Angel Correa on the attacking third of the pitch. Both of them will need to be sharp in front of the opponent’s goal if Atletico Madrid are to have any chance of securing points from this away encounter.
Joao Felix and Alvaro Morata will be named on the Atletico bench as they await their opportunity to impress in the second half if required.
