Atletico Madrid face Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League group stages as they make a trip to Jan Breydel Stadium on Tuesday evening. The visitors come into the match on the back of a 2-0 victory against Sevilla in La Liga. On the other hand, the hosts have also recorded a 3-0 victory against Westerlo in their last outing. Club Brugge sit on the top of Group B in the UCL having won their last two Champions League fixtures, so this could be a defining week for the group.
Diego Simeone could set the team up in a 5-3-2 formation and is expected to make a few changes to his starting XI for this game. Rodrigo De Paul will make a start as Koke takes a spot on the bench while Morata and Felix continue as a two-man strike team.
5-3-2 Atletico Madrid Predicted Line Up Vs Club Brugge
Jan Oblak will operate in goal for the away side after he earned a clean sheet in his last outing. Simeone could opt for a back three of Stefan Savic, Jose Gimenez and Reinildo Mandava for this game as they try to keep the opposition at bay throughout the game.
Mario Hermoso could fill in as the left wing-back while José Francisco Molina hopes to catch the eye as the right wing-back. Both of them will have to defend the opposition wingers well inside their half and make some overlapping runs on the counter.
Axel Witsel and Geoffrey Kondogbia will have to settle for a place on the bench as they offer cover for the centre-back positions.
Midfield
Rodrigo De Paul, Marcos Llorente and Saul Niguez will anchor the midfield for the Madrid giants as they try to put a solid performance collectively in stopping the opposition at the centre of the park. They will be tasked with distributing possession efficiently and creating some decent opportunities for the front two.
Koke will be available for selection on Simeone’s bench but might come on to influence the game in the latter stages if required.
Attack
Joao Felix will lead the charge alongside Alvaro Morata on the attacking third of the pitch. Both of them need to be sharp in front of the opponent’s goal if Atletico Madrid are to have any chance of securing points from this away encounter.
Antoine Griezmann and Yannick Carrasco will be named on the Atletico bench as they await their opportunity to impress in the second half if required.
