Borussia Dortmund entertained Manchester City at Signal Iduna Park earlier tonight as they looked to secure a win at home in the UEFA Champions League. The home team made a decent start to the game but could only manage to get into the half-time break with a goalless scoreline.
Both sides canceled each other out in the second 45 minutes as the contest finished 0-0 with Dortmund being held to a point in front of their home fans.
Let’s take a look at how each Borussia Dortmund player fared during the match against Man City.
GK: Gregor Kobel – 8/10
Kobel made a few decent saves at the back and even managed to stop Riyad Mahrez’s penalty in the second half.
RB: Niklas Sule – 6.5/10
He made a couple of crucial defensive contributions and engineered one good chance going forward.
CB: Mats Hummels – 7/10
Hummels made a lot of important clearances inside his half and was a bit untidy with his ball distribution when playing his way out from the back.
CB: Nico Schlotterbeck – 7/10
The defender got stuck in with some crunching tackles and made one good run with the ball.
LB: Thorgan Hazard – 6.5/10
Hazard did his fair share of defending but offered very little in the final third.
RM: Karim Adeyemi – 7/10
He managed to orchestrate a few decent chances for his teammates to find the back of the net.
CM: Jude Bellingham – 6.5/10
The English midfielder showed a few glimpses of what he is capable of but lacked quality in the Man City half.
CM: Emre Can – 6/10
Can anchored the midfield well at times but his impact on the game was minimal going forward. It was a lackluster display from him tonight.
CM: Julian Brandt – 6.5/10
He made a couple of encouraging runs with the ball but never looked like he would score.
LM: Giovanni Reyna – 6.5/10
Reyna made one crucial interception at the back and had some promising moments in the final third. However, he did well to last 86 minutes.
ST: Youssoufa Moukoko – 6/10
Moukoko caused a few headaches for the opposition but didn’t do enough to get his name on the scoresheet. He got replaced in the 81st minute.
Substitutes:
LW: Donyell Malen – 6/10
He offered very little after coming off the bench.
CM: Marius Wolf – N/A
The German midfield ace didn’t get enough time to influence the game.
ST: Anthony Modeste – N/A
Modeste came on for the final few minutes of the game.
CM: Antonios Papadopoulos – N/A
He hardly got any minutes to warrant a rating.
