Chelsea will clash with Aston Villa as they make their trip to Villa Park on Sunday looking to grab all three points from this away encounter. The Blues will return to the English top flight after recording a splendid 2-0 victory against AC Milan in the Champions League group stages. They stand fourth in the Premier League rankings so they will be looking to close the gap between them and Tottenham Hotspur who sit in third.
Graham Potter will probably opt for the 3-4-3 formation and is expected to make a couple of changes to the match-day squad. Marc Cucurella will return to the left-wing back position replacing Ben Chilwell while Kai Havertz starts in the front three.
3-4-3 Chelsea Predicted Line Up Vs Aston Villa
Defence
Kepa Arrizabalaga will operate in goal for the hosts as the Spanish goalkeeper hopes to give a strong performance against the Villans. Kalidou Koulibaly, Thiago Silva and Trevoh Chalobah will feature in the heart of the Blues’ defence as they hope to keep things solid at the back and stop the opposition in their tracks. The three-man defence will be expected to keep a clean sheet as they did in their last outing.
Cesar Azpilicueta will provide cover for the defensive positions from the bench.
Midfield
Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho will anchor the midfield for the Blues as they try to distribute the ball efficiently to their teammates while shielding the back four. Kovacic will be expected to create some decent opportunities in the final third.
Reece James and Marc Cucurella will feature as the right and the left-sided wide player trying to stretch the opposition in the final third while remaining compact on defence.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Conor Gallagher will take the spot on the bench as they wait for the opportunity to impress in the second half if required.
Attack
Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang will lead the charge against the opposition as he fancies his chances of finding the back of the net.
Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz will slot into the left and right side in the attacking third in order to provide support and create some clear-cut goal-scoring chances.
Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic will have to settle for a spot on the bench, they might come on to influence the game if Graham Potter’s side are in need of a goal by then.
