FC Barcelona will clash heads with Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday evening, looking to pick up a positive result and retain their position at the top of the La Liga points table. Barca will be heading into the contest on the back of a disappointing 3-3 draw versus Inter whereas the hosts recorded a 1-1 draw with Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday.
Xavi will probably opt for a 4-3-3 formation with a couple of tweaks from the last game as Jules Kounde looks likely to make his way back into the starting eleven.
4-3-3 Barcelona Predicted Lineup Vs Real Madrid
Defence
Marc-Andre ter Stegen is expected to start in between the sticks for the upcoming clash. The German shot-stopper would hope to put up a strong performance and secure a clean sheet on Sunday.
Gerard Pique will partner Eric Garcia at the heart of Barcelona’s backline as they try to neutralise Real Madrid’s attacking threats throughout the ninety minutes.
Jules Kounde could be a starter at the right-back position whereas Alejandro Balde might replace Marcos Alonso on the other flank, as the left-back.
The full-back will be expected to stay compact and keep their shape defensively.
Midfield
Sergio Busquets and 18-year-old Gavi are expected to fulfil the holding midfield positions, with the latter occupying a more central role.
Pedri will slot into the attacking midfield position. The Spain international will be determined to set up some clear-cut goal-scoring chances for the frontmen this weekend.
Frenkie de Jong will have to settle for a place on the bench but he might come on in the latter stages of the game if required.
Attack
Raphinha and Ousmane Dembele will take up the wide positions, looking to stretch their side’s attack and simultaneously cut inside when given the space and opportunity.
Robert Lewandowski will lead the line for Barcelona on Sunday. The Pole striker would hope to make the most of his chances when he faces off against the Madrid defence that has conceded four goals in their last three games across all competitions.
