Newcastle United will lock horns with Fulham at Craven Cottage as they look to grab maximum points on their travels. The Magpies were held to a 1-1 draw by Bournemouth before the international break which has halted their momentum for now.
Eddie Howe will set his side up in a 4-3-3 formation and could make one tweak to his first XI for this game. Callum Wilson could get a chance to impress as the centre-forward from the start in the injury absence of Alexander Isak.
4-3-3 Newcastle United Predicted Lineup To Face Fulham
Defence
Nick Pope will operate in between the sticks for the Cottagers after shipping in one goal in his last outing. Fabian Schar will resume his defensive partnership with Dan Burn at the centre of Newcastle’s backline as they look to keep things tidy at the back this weekend.
Kieran Trippier will look to give a good account of himself at right-back while Matt Targett will hope to catch the eye on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will get the license to express themselves in the opponent’s half.
Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman will provide cover for the centre-half spots on the bench.
Midfield
The Magpies could opt for a midfield comprised of Joelinton, Bruno Guimaraes and Joe Willock as they focus on dominating possession and getting a stranglehold in the game at the centre of the park.
Guimaraes is a major doubt for this game and will be in a race against time to be fit for this clash versus the Cottagers.
Sean Longstaff will be available for selection on the bench as he waits for his opportunity to shine in the second half if required.
Attack
Ryan Fraser will get another chance as the left-winger while Miguel Almiron hopes to put his pace to good use on the right. Eddie Howe will give both of them the freedom to express themselves in the Fulham half.
Callum Wilson will lead the line for the Tyneside outfit on his own up top. The English forward will have to carry most of the goal-scoring burden for Newcastle on the attacking end of the pitch.
Chris Wood is a significant concern ahead of this game and would have to pass a late fitness test if he wants to be a part of Howe’s bench this Saturday. However, as mentioned earlier, Alexander Isak will definitely miss this game due to injury.
